This year, the DATE conference and exhibition attracted 1,600 visitors, and held 122 tutorials and 304 Friday workshops. This represents impressive and consistent growth – the show has been growing attendance by around 40% a year for the last three years. The event continues to have global influence, with 32% of attendees from outside Europe. France (22%), the USA (17%) and Germany (15%) are the countries that send the most delegates.

It’s clear that in Europe some events continue to thrive, and DATE is perhaps the most impressive in terms of growth. Can they continue to deliver even more visitors in 2014, when the event will take place in Dresden, Germany from 24th to 28th March? As the number of attendees increases, maintaining a 40% increase every year gets hard, but with the momentum behind the show, I wouldn’t bet against it!
