Exactly 40 years ago today the article written by Gordon Moore that predicted the doubling of transistors per unit area every 2 years appeared in Electronics Magazine. Incredibly there appears to be no surviving copies of the original magazine, but if you know of one, the BBC reports that on eBay Intel has offered $10000.00 for a copy! I guess this shows that today there is at least one way to make money out of the electronics industry….

Note: this prize was won by David Clark, an engineer from Surrey (UK), so don’t try calling Bill Gates asking for money, even if you do have a stock of 40 year old electronics magazines!
