Bodo’s Power is inviting authors to submit local language versions of contributed articles that are published in the magazine. On the face of it, this is a great idea, with all the local language versions appearing at the end of the online (PDF) version of the magazine. I wonder, however, how many people will think that this offers better value than placing the local language version of the article in a local language magazine. I’m always pleased to see pan-European publishers trying to support local languages: it is simply far more effective to communicate in an engineer’s first language. I suspect that in practice there may be limited take-up of this idea, but perhaps this doesn’t matter – any local language articles will make Bodo’s Power more relevant to the European audience, and will help communicate electronics companies’ messages more effectively.
