On 1st August 2011, Alistair Winning will take up the role of editor at EPD. Alistair is an experienced editor who has a very strong technical background and whose previous roles include editing Electronic Engineering.
Over the past few years several editors moved from journalism to a more commercial role, and Alistair has spent the last few years generating content for Element 14, Farnell’s online portal. It’s great to see journalists returning to editor roles, following so soon after Sally Ward-Foxton’s decision to return to her roots.
When Neil Whittaker, publisher of EPD, said he wanted to find a journalist to replace Tim Fryer who was strong technically I thought he’d find it tough to get someone who could write well and understand the technology. He’s definitely achieved this with the appointment of Alistair.
Great news! I can’t think of a more deserving person to take over at EPD than Alistair. Of course it will be more like a homecoming as I seem to remember he worked there before under the late (and great) Brian Jennings.
