SupplyFrame can now support dynamic ads that include widgets. With increasing numbers of component suppliers launching online design tools – and most of those creating widgets to allow access to these tools from other sites – the idea of being able to embed the widget in an advert is an attractive proposition. The widget ads are a nice innovation, and they they offer a great opportunity for advertisers to measure their campaigns based upon commercial results. I’m wondering how long it will be until they’re sold based upon the number of users of the widgets, rather than an impression-based charging scheme. And surely we’re not that far away from the time when a publisher has the confidence to work with an advertiser with payment based upon a share of the revenue that the campaign generates.
