Maybe it’s not all about search advertising! CNET reports that Google is to buy Doubleclick for $3.1Bn, a strong move to online display advertising. We think that this aquisition will be greeted with concern by many advertisers, giving Google huge influence in the online advertising sector, but for European electronics industry marketers it probably won’t change much as display advertising is generally booked direct with the site owners, rather than through an agency such as Doubleclick.
