Reed’s fascination with all things simian continues with the launch of DEVmonkey – an online resource jointly sponsored by Electronics Weekly and EDN that is specifically devoted to development kits. I love the concept of this sit, particularly the 2-minute reviews, which should help engineers select the right kit for their needs. We do a lot of PR work in the IT sector, where independent reviews really do help consumers buy the right products and a good review almost guarantees a jump in sales. If DEVmonkey is able to review enough kits it would be a valuable resource for engineers and an important part of any development kit launch. Of course the challenge is getting to that critical mass of reviews: we’ll keep monitoring progress, so check back to Napier News for more information.
