Hot on the heels of the FTC’s regulation of paid-for promotions in social media, the UK’s Office of Fair Trading has also ruled that there must be transparency in social media advertising. The ruling, however, is under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, so applies to consumer marketing.
